DAVE & BOB'S EXCELLENT (RIVER) ADVENTURE (PART 1)
Brother Bob & I had talked about taking his kayak (which I had stored in my garage while they RV'd around the country) & paddling down the Congaree river. The day finally arrived!

Here we are striking our farewell poses just prior to shoving off.

Someone crashed the gate guarding the entrance to the launch site, so we drove up as far as we could, before man-handling the kayak the rest of the way.

Now...who's going to sit where?

One size does NOT fit all, as we soon discover

A few words of advice from my better half . . .

"have fun. . . .don't drown"

A-conquering we go

Will my legs fit in there?

Are we there, yet?

"stroke. . .stroke . .stroke!

I'm tired, Let's rest"

"Bob, can sharks swim this far upstream? Please say NO"

We coerced some tubers to take our picture

They float on ahead, into the jaws of Granby Locks. We watch. . . waiting to learn from their mistakes.

We survive the locks & pull ashore for a closer look (and to rest!)

Yours truly

Someone's home-made, private paradise!

Journey's end. . .the floating boat ramp.

We there, yet.

Brother Bob takes a break

I, too, take a breather

Cheers!

Taking a dip in the deepest part of the river so far. . . at the boat ramp.

After the kayak trip, we headed home, showered & met up with the wives at Finley Park for a picnic & live band (unfortunately. . .the rain clouds moved in & cancelled the show early)
